The Flashback Funk Fest is coming to the Smart Financial Centre on Saturday, July 11, 2026 and it’s going to be a funk-filled night of dancing to the hits of the 70’s and 80’s by some of the biggest names in funk from that era. The doors open at 6:00 PM and the show will kick off at 7:00 PM CT. Dance the night away to the sounds of Morris Day & The Time, Zapp Band, Con Funk Shun and The S.O.S. Band. 

Morris Day & The Time

Morris Day & The Time perform hit songs from the 1980s such as “Jungle Love,” “The Bird,” and “777-9311.” As a close peer of Prince and The Revolution from the time of the Minneapolis sound, Morris Day and The Time have collectively received multiple Grammy nominations. 

Zapp Band

The group is renowned in the world of funk as well as in hip-hop due to the vast amounts of samples that have been taken from their hits such as ‘More Bounce to the Ounce,’ ‘Computer Love,’ and ‘I Can Make You Dance’ to name a few. Zapp was formed in the 70’s by the Troutman brothers; Lester, Tony, Rostron and Bobby and began touring with the band The Family. 

Con Funk Shun

Con Funk Shun is one of the greatest funk / R&B bands from the 1970s and 1980s. The Bay Area Band brought the smooth style of funk that has been enjoyed by many fans all over the world. Famous hits such as “Chase Me”, “Ffun” and “Shake and Dance with Me” display the powerful lead vocals of these incredible musicians. 

The S.O.S. Band

The S.O.S. Band was an American R&B and funk band from Atlanta, Georgia whose music was produced by songwriters Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The group brought a high energy show that brought back the soulful, dance-funk of the 80s and played hits like “Take Your Time (Do It Right)”, “Just Be Good to Me”, and “The Finest”.

Smart Financial Centre Information

Smart Financial Centre is located at 18111 Lexington Blvd in Sugar Land, TX, 23 miles southwest of downtown Houston. The venue is an intimate indoor setting with seating areas up close to the stage that can hold up to 6,400 attendees. The venue’s floor can be reconfigured to hold as few as 3,000 attendees for very intimate performances. The venue features a variety of food stands offering a wide array of fare, seating for people with disabilities and restrooms as well as services for the deaf and hard-of-hearing.

Parking Information

There will be 2,500 parking spaces available for the patrons and employees of Smart Financial Centre for the Flashback Funk Fest. All of the spaces will be paved and divided up into several different lots. The prepaid parking will be $15.00 (plus tax) per car. On the day of the event the parking will be $20.00 (plus tax) per car and will be paid by credit card only. The ADA accessible parking is on the east side of the SFC Plaza.
